Bebé Glotón: Breastfeeding Baby

When I first came across this story I thought to myself NO WAY, but this story is true. Bebé Glotón, which is an infant doll made by Spain Toy maker Berjuan. The doll's purpose? To promote breastfeeding! The idea is to show kids that breastfeeding is a normal and natural occurrence after becoming a new mother. To read the full story CLICK HERE I myself think this is just a bit too much! However as usual I love to hear your thoughts. So what's your take on this?

Tantrums Again!

Even though we have touched this subject once before we didn’t really go into it thoroughly. Tantrums are a part of a toddlers make up! You may see yourself constantly telling your child "Your gonna have time out if you don’t stop your tantrum," or "You are not allowed to have this toy if you keep it up!" My daughter can sometimes seem like the queen of tantrums, however I have noticed that she is beginning to understand that this phase isn’t right. When I point out to her that her having a tantrum is going to get a favorite toy or movie time taken away for the day she automatically stops! My daughter loves to be rewarded as all children do even if it's just her telling her that she did an awesome job! Or that she is a good girl! How are some of the ways that you deal with your child and their tantrums? Are the tantrums getting even better or worse? Let’s chat!

Good Hygiene's

You just finished baking a nice batch of cookies and you sit them at them table for your little ones to eat. They grab one, and a few seconds later it falls on the floor. Your child's first instinct is to pick it up and put it right back into his or hers mouth to eat it! Every child has that notion from time to time. My daughter is still in that phase as we speak! Teaching them how to not eat things off the floor may seem like a difficult repetitive task of telling them no, but repetition is something that is required. By the time you know it they will know not to eat things off of the floor. How about you out there? What are the creative ways that you teach your children how not to eat food off of the floor?

Hand Sanitizers

Hand Sanitizers seem to come in handy for those times when soap and water is not available and you truly need it! However there is a dispute on using Hand Sanitizers. Some doctors say that you should not use too much as it can start to thin out the protection of your skin, while others say it can harm the brain cells for small children. Whatever the case may be there is a dispute over it. So what's your take on it?

555 Pound 14 Year Old Boy

Today I had a whole different line up in store. That is until I ran across this. A story of a South Carolina 14 year old boy who weighs 555 pounds! His mother Jerri Gray, is currently in prison and is facing charges of felony child neglect. Awhile back Gray told CBS News that she works late shifts, which leaves her little time to prepare healthy meals for her son. I have my own thoughts on this topic, but I would like to hear your feed back. So what's your take on this? To read the full story Click Here!

Too many shots!

As you all can see I saved this topic for last as it’s very controversial. Most doctors say that children should have all of their shots before starting school. Giving children their shots is a way to protect them from different diseases and so forth. However many people disagree with doctors giving so many shots to infants and kids period! Some people are trying to prove that giving children their shots at such an early age contributes to Autism. Some parents withhold their kids from having their shots and some doctors seem to disapprove greatly. So as usual I want to know your take on this as I will be very active in this conversation as well. Please remember to be respectful to others while stating your opinion.

As for me and my opinion I am one of those parents who thinks that there shouldn't be so many shots given to infants. I can remember taking my daughter to the doctor and I was so concerned that I eventually had the doctor to spread them out. Making sure not give my daughter too many shots at once. Although my daughter is caught up on her shots now, I still think that it’s just too much for babies and toddlers.

Critique My Skills

I'm sure almost every parent has had a point and time in their life where someone has critiqued them as a parent. Maybe in their eyes your not feeding, dressing, or nurturing your child to them in the right way. Whether it be physically or mentally. Have you ever had this happen, where no matter what, that someone just had something they needed to say whether it was family, friends, or whomever? And most of all how did you or how do you plan to handle it?

Religion Baby

Religion is a common battle that most parents have if they come from two different backgrounds. Most times either parent prefers their child to become apart of their religion. I did not have this problem as my daughter's father and I are both of the Christian faith. Even though my religion is Evangelist and her father's religion is of another we always had a common ground on that. I would like to know is this a frequent discussion in your household, is it a problem in your household, and how do you plan on solving it? For this topic I will actually be responding to comments so feel free to talk!

Emotional Rollercoaster

Emotions that babies have are overlooked in so many ways. Most of the time during custody situations, broken home families etc… Some parents claim to have the "best interest of the child", but is it really the best interest for the chlld or theirs?

Some parents,(who aren’t the primary caregiver)wants to have that special time with their child but is barely there for the child emotionally or physically. Which is where conflicts come into play. Especially when the out of play parent doesn’t like hearing the word NO from (the primary caregiver). Putting you, the other parent, and most of all the child in difficult compromising situations. Which bares heavily on the child emotionally! People easily forget that babies have just as much feelings and emotions as a any adult does. Especially since they don’t know exactly what is going on.

One thing I’ve learned is just because your baby is born and your supposed to grow up doesn’t mean that the parent, he or she plans to, or even will grow up. Like putting friends, partying, and yourself before the child has to cease! NO matter how old you are a change in your life, ways, and actions, is needed period. Remember when you stress the baby feels this and can become stressed. Especially from going back and forth between homes. My advice, parents please change your routine an adapt to your childs needs, feelings, and emotions. I would love to hear your feedback , so let’s chat!

Your One Year Old Said What... F@#!?

A few months ago while in the park with my daughter. I overheard a little boy use profanity with a male passer by. He called him a B$@#!, the man replied "How old are you and where are your parents?" The boy stated that he was 5 and continued to use profanity as his younger brother possibly no older than 2yrs. old witnessed and repeated what was said. The young boys mother practically congratulated him on speaking this way and cursed the poor man for even speaking on it.
It amazes me how some people teach their kids so much negativity as if that's cute. A 2yr. or 3 yr. old cursing is not cute nor funny. Yes they may be learning, but what they are learning it's not positive at all! Teaching a child to disrespect others and themselves in the process is only leading that child in the wrong direction. What are your takes on situations like these? Please be honest and respectful of others. Thanks!

White Tongue...

This one is for the mothers with newborns! You feed your newborn put him or her to sleep. The next day when you wake up your baby is extra cranky. You start the daily feed and realize that your baby tongue is white. Most mothers think its just milk build up and can go away if they wipe it off of baby's the tongue. Not true! It's most likely a form of colic. Which can make your baby irritable and cranky! Have any of you experienced this? Let's share!

Tantrums

Tantrums are definitely apart of a 1yr., 2yr., and 3yr. olds world. My daughters tantrums began at the end of 1yrs. old and are still going strong! One day while grocery shopping my daughter decided she wanted me to buy a box of care bear candy that was on the shelf. My daughter picked the box up and everything. I repeatedly told her "No, not right now mommy will buy you some later." The tantrum began! I found myself walking out of the store and sitting in the car with her until the tantrum ended. I've been trying different tactics to reduce the tantrums. Which thankfully have seemed to work. Time Out has been frequently used in our house. Also taking away her favorite item until the tantrum has subsided. What are some of your tantrum stories and the way that you deal with your babies tantrums?

Potty Blues

Having the potty blues is common for most parents. When my child first began to potty train I thought to myself ugh how and when will she master it? As it seemed to be a difficult task, but in no time she became a pro! I tried everything from letting my daughter decorate her potty with different stickers of her choice, to coming up with a potty song with her while she pottied, to even trying a fun potty boot camp, which she absolutely loved! So the beginning topic for today is "Potty Blues!" What are some of your potty stories, tips, an advice?

Mommy Needs A Makeover and Vacation...

The lifestyle of a stay at home mom, and just mothers period can be very hectic and demanding. Everyday whether you have a spouse or not, when children are sick its that little voice coming from the room "mommy I don't feel well," or "mommy I have an owee," or just "mommy." Mommy usually makes the breakfast, the lunch, and the dinner. And at the end of the day mommy is usually the one cleaning up the mess that the little ones have made. After all of the caring for the spouse, children, etc. When does mommy have time for herself? It's usually that little portion of the night when everyone's asleep, but then your too tired to even enjoy your me time. So then you find yourself just going to sleep and the next day begins with the same cycle. I've been there all to well with trying to find that time just for me. Everyone's way of finding me time is different, but I would like to know how you guys get some mommy time. So how do you get your mommy time? Or do you get mommy time at all?
