As you all know Nickelodeon as well as other stations are always coming up with new shows for kids! Today I wanted to talk about Nickelodeon's new show called the Fresh Beat Band. The Fresh Beat Band consist of four band members, Shout, Twist, Marina, and Kiki. They talk/sing about friendship, love, manners, etc... And they have a very good message behind every show! I personally think this show is perfect for kids of different age ranges. My daughter just loves this show as she knows almost all of the words to their songs. But as usual I would like to know all of you guys take on the show. Do you like it? Or not like it? Discrimination on Stay At Home Mothers?

While most mothers enjoy being a stay at home mom, they are also often discriminated for being a stay at home mom in more ways than one. Mainly regarding their return into the working world. Former stay at home mothers are either paid an unfair wage or just doesn't get the job at all! Not to mention some of the negative talk from people who realize that they are a stay at home mom. People often think that stay at home moms aren't educated and so forth. Which is definitely NOT TRUE! If you are a stay at home mom or a former stay at home mom. My Baby Rhymes! (Shelley's Story)

Hi Tecolia, my name is Shelley. I have a 6 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. My 3 year old daughter is very smart and active. However she hasn't begun to fully talk yet. I was a little concerned so I took her to the doctors. To my surprise they said she's fine! I didn't believe them so I got a second opinion, same results! My question to you is do you have any suggestions on how to encourage my daughter to speak, I'm getting frustrated. My son didn't have to this problem he was talking full blown sentences by two! But I have to say he doesn't have the potty down still at age 6! HELP!!!!!!

Hello Shelley! Yes I can see that you are a bit frustrated. First you need to let that frustration go because it will only make the situation worse. Then I would suggest that when you and your daughter are out and about, make it a learning experience, an adventure! Ask your daughter questions like "Do you see the green tree?" By doing so you are teaching her what she is seeing, you are getting her familiar with everyday objects and life! Also did you know that rhyming is a great way to encourage your child's language development? Rhyming helps to boost auditory memory, and develop rhythm. So get ready to start rhyming and preferably whip out those Dr. Seuss books! As they are a great tool for building vocabulary!

555 Pound 14 Year Old Boy

Today I had a whole different line up in store. That is until I ran across this. A story of a South Carolina 14 year old boy who weighs 555 pounds! His mother Jerri Gray, is currently in prison and is facing charges of felony child neglect. Awhile back Gray told CBS News that she works late shifts, which leaves her little time to prepare healthy meals for her son. Too many shots!

As you all can see I saved this topic for last as it’s very controversial. Most doctors say that children should have all of their shots before starting school. Giving children their shots is a way to protect them from different diseases and so forth. However many people disagree with doctors giving so many shots to infants and kids period! Some people are trying to prove that giving children their shots at such an early age contributes to Autism. Some parents withhold their kids from having their shots and some doctors seem to disapprove greatly. So as usual I want to know your take on this as I will be very active in this conversation as well. Please remember to be respectful to others while stating your opinion.

As for me and my opinion I am one of those parents who thinks that there shouldn't be so many shots given to infants. I can remember taking my daughter to the doctor and I was so concerned that I eventually had the doctor to spread them out. Making sure not give my daughter too many shots at once. Although my daughter is caught up on her shots now, I still think that it’s just too much for babies and toddlers.

Wrong Entertainment

Doctors say that letting your kids watch too much television, "entertainment television" in particularly can hinder your child's speaking ability. Doctors say that it can slow down their speech process and to spend at least 15 minutes a day reading with your child. While I and a lot of parents agree with this study other's don't. How about you guys? What's your take on it?

What Type Of Vitamins Are You Giving Your Kids?

As we all know by now, it is very important that our children get the right nutrients and so forth. One thing that’s always been recommended by physicians is giving your child vitamins. As I’ve stated before in previous posts I usually give my daughter the Flintstones vitamins. However some people disagree with doctors on that and usually do different things like just going completely organic and feeding their child mainly fruits, vegetables, and of the sort(which in my opinion is probably the best way, but also very time consuming). While others prefer to go herbal. Well I would like to hear from you! Do you give your children vitamins at all? Or do you disagree with the doctors, and opt not to give your child vitamins but use other sources?

Baby Manners Matter

For me teaching my daughter manners like please and thank you came so easily, it was just a breeze! As my daughter always ask me "Mommy can you get me something to drink please?" or "Can you turn on Tinker Bell please?" Whenever something is given to her she says thank you! I noticed that apart of her picking up these manners might be because I practice them myself around her. As with children they look to their parents as role models before anyone else. With some people it’s not as easy to get their children to have manners even if they are being polite and showing good manners themselves. So how about you? Is your child picking up good manners and how are you trying to enforce good behavioral manners in your home? Or is it a difficult process?
